Roman Theater

Roman Theater of Italica

The theater is located a few meters from the Archaeological Ensemble of Italica, was built in the time of Augustus and restored in 2014.

Visiting the theater of Italica is an experience where participants will travel to the Roman past becoming spectators, fiturantes, Romans in their leisure space.

The Theater of Italica is located in the Roman city of Italica (its origin dates back to 206 BC. ), located in the Lower Guadalquivir, halfway between Seville (Hispalis) and Alcala del Rio (Ilipa) and very close to the routes that connected with the mining area of the Sierra Norte de Sevilla and Huelva, played an important strategic role both politico-military and economic during the High Roman Empire, proof of this is that it came to occupy an area of approximately 52 hectares.

Its location is independent of the central core of the archaeological site. Its recent restoration and the design of specific infrastructures for the area allow for the development of a wide range of cultural activities.

The capacity for these performances reaches 758 spectators.

At present it is only open for celebrations or performances, among which we highlight:

International Dance Festival of Italica

Festival of the Roman Theaters of Andalusia.

Greco-Latin Theater Festival
